Free access to the NBF dedicated Health and Safety helpline, which is available during office hours (UK based members only).

Tax & VAT advice

Free unlimited access to a tax and VAT helpline to obtain expert professional advice on a wide range of commercial monetary issues (UK based members only).

Market intelligence

Suite of market intelligence reports to help benchmark your performance, including quarterly industry sales data trackers, barometer of trade reports, economic updates, pulse reports and consumer insight surveys.

Legal help

Members have access to a free, 24/7 Legal Helpline. It is available 365 days a year and there is no limit to the number of times you can call (UK based members only).

Intellectual property & trade name protection

Discounted membership of Anti-Copying in Design (ACID) – providing advice and protection for members concerned about protecting intellectual property. Use the Trade Name Register to avoid costly name duplications.

Be better informed

The NBF will keep you up to date with all the important association and industry news. Meet and mix with fellow industry professionals at the annual NBF Forum. Enjoy help and advice on after sales service though the affiliate membership of The Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman.

Have stronger influence

One member – one vote.  Hear and be heard re: NBF policy and activity. Join a committee to contribute directly to the formulation of NBF policy. Have a voice influencing regulators and standard makers – through the lobbying in the UK and in Europe as part of the BFC.

Active support from bed retailers that are part of the NBF Retail Champions Scheme and predominantly stock NBF-approved members. They receive digital and print marketing support & POS featuring the NBF logo.

Eligibility for Full NBF membership:

Membership is open only to manufacturers of beds, mattresses and related products with a UK/Republic of Ireland manufacturing facility; or to suppliers to the UK bed manufacturing industry.

All applicants will need to have been trading in the sector and in the UK / Republic of Ireland for at least three years. Supporting evidence may be requested.

Bed manufacturers must be manufacturing a substantial proportion (at least 70%) of their products in the UK. Assembling from flat pack, finished, boxed products does not constitute manufacturing).

Associate Supplier Membership

Associate Membership for suppliers is open to suppliers of all components (including springs, fillings, foam, ticking, timber, hardware, threads, labels, POS, glue etc), packaging and services to manufacturers of beds, mattresses and related products with UK/Republic of Ireland manufacturing facility. Suppliers may be based in the UK and Ireland or elsewhere in the world. Applicants may be new, start-up businesses or existing businesses new to the UK/Irish bed market.

Active support from bed retailers that are part of the NBF Retail Champions Scheme and predominantly stock NBF-approved members. They receive digital and print marketing support & POS featuring the NBF logo.

Brand Associate Membership

Available to mattress brands who do not have their own manufacturing facilities but are selling to UK and Irish retailers. All mattresses (ie 100%), sold to UK and Irish retailers under their brand name MUST be made by NBF Approved members.
